Schendel’s WeedZero Fertilization Program is a great way to prevent and control weeds, while keeping your lawn looking green and vibrant all season long. For anyone looking for what is traditionally called a “weed and feed service,” the WeedZero Program is just what you’re looking for. In this blog we’ll cover everything you need to know about the WeedZero Program.
What’s unique about the WeedZero Program is that it proactively controls of summer weeds such as crabgrass and nutsedge. Other weed control service providers might not include these treatments at all, or they might charge you extra. In addition, our WeedZero Program comes with a WeedZero Guarantee, which means that if your weeds aren’t being controlled, Schendel will return for free.
There are eight total treatments in our WeedZero Program. For optimal effectiveness, we recommend completing all eight treatments.
1) Early Spring Crabgrass Prevention & Fertilization
This treatment is typically performed March-April, and prevents the emergence of crabgrass, spurge, and goose grass. The fertilizer that is applied feeds the grass as it begins new spring growth. Granular product is used.
2) Spring Weed Control & Crabgrass Prevention
This treatment is typically performed April-May, and focuses on preventing crabgrass, chickweed, clover, perennial broadleaf, nutsedge, and controls dandelions. Fertilizer continues to feed the grass to promote growth. Liquid product is used.
3) Early Summer Weed Control
Typically performed May-June, this treatment targets weeds such as crabgrass, nutsedge, and broadleaf. This treatment will be a targeted spot treatment of existing weeds rather than a full lawn treatment. Liquid product is used.
4) Mid-Summer Weed Control
Typically performed June-July, this treatment targets summer weeds such as crabgrass, nutsedge, and broadleaf. Similar to the previous treatment, this is a targeted spot treatment for problem areas. Liquid product is used.
5) Late Summer Weed Control
Typically performed July-August, this treatment targets remaining summer weeds such as crabgrass, nutsedge, and broadleaf. This treatment is a targeted spot treatment that focuses on problem areas. Liquid product is used.
6) Fall Fertilizer
This treatment is typically performed August-October. Fertilizer feeds the grass through the fall growing season and gives relief from the stress of the summer heat. Granular or liquid product is used.
7) Fall Broadleaf Weed Control
Typically performed October-November, this treatment controls weeds such as clovers, dandelions, spurge, wild violet, and lespedeza. Liquid product is used.
8) Winter Fertilizer
Typically performed November-December, This treatment promotes root development and faster green up when springtime arrives. Granular product is used.
